Camp Manual
Girls camp, for young women ages 12-17, is in many ways an attempt to provide a female equivalent to the Boy and Eagle Scout camps the young men enjoyed every summer.
Young women complete requirements throughout their six years of camping. Requirements included things like identifying poison ivy, scripture reading, first aid, building a fire, and more.
While I remember “passing off” many requirements and ultimately finishing the program and receiving my reward, (which was not a nationally recognized achievement that I could add to my college application like an Eagle Scout) the moments I remember most from girls camp were starting my period and having terrible cramps, making lots of crafts that I didn’t want to make, and singing strange and “spiritual” songs around the campfire at night with friends that I only hung out with at church activities.

If I had the strength of a Pioneer (Pioneer)
Into the woods I would fly (would fly)
There to remain as a Pioneer (Pioneer)
Until the day that I die (I die)

Oo la la oo la la oo la
Again!
Oo la la oo la la la
Repeat!
Oo la la oo la la oo la
Once more

If I had the smell of a Pioneer (Pioneer)
Into the tub I would fly (would fly)
There to remain as a Pioneer (Pioneer)
Until I'd scrubbed with the lye (the lye)
Chores (Chores)
If I had the legs of a Pioneer (Pioneer)
Into a dress I would go (would go)
There to remain as a Pioneer (Pioneer)
Just so my legs would not show (not show)
Chores (Chores)
Now do you feel like a Pioneer? (yip, yip)
Do you have wobbly knees? (yip, yip)
Do you have blisters on your feet? (yip, yip)
Then you're a Pioneer indeed! (yip, yip)

Walk Tall, You're a Daughter of God
Right now I have a prayer deep with in my heart.
A prayer for each of you there is a special part.
That you remember who you are and Him who lives above.
Please seek for Him and live His way;
You’ll feel His love.
Chorus
Walk tall, you’re a daughter, a child of God.
Be strong please remember who you are.
Try to understand,
You’re part of His great plan.
He’s closer than you know
Reach up, he’ll take your hand.
Long before the time you can remember,
Our Father held you in His arms so tender,
Those loving arms released you as He sent you down to earth.
He said, “My child, I love you. Don’t forget your great worth”
This life on earth we knew would not be easy.
At times we lose our way
His path we may not see.
But please remember always- please-that you are not alone.
He’ll take your hand.
He loves you!
He will guide you home
